Kickin' it off with some gratitude ✨
For the people and moments that make this life unforgettable.
Big shoutout to all my friends who not only humor my random ideas but also willingly hand over their contact info so I can bug you through iMessage and now, email! 😇
I’m starting this newsletter as a way to keep my creative brain alive and stay more connected with all of you. If there’s ever something you want me to write about, let me know! No promises it’ll be Pulitzer-worthy, but hey, it’ll be something.
If you’ve known me for a while, you probably know Thanksgiving isn’t exactly my jam. It’s a tough one for me. But, in the spirit of going with the flow, I’ve put together a list of things I love and appreciate this year.
Consider it all the stuff I didn’t get a chance to say at the Thanksgiving table today. And if you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re on here somewhere.
May this be the cheesiest thing you read all year:
Mysterious knowledge. My career mentor, who shall not be named (or summoned), has been quietly steering me in the right direction for three years now, like some kind of professional fairy godparent. 🧚🏻
Wine and wanderlust. 🍷 Sipping mulled wine on the Nyhavn or popping a bottle under the Eiffel Tower with Liv and Val—because nothing says gratitude like good grapes and even better company.
Bright minds and brighter vibes. 🌊 Working at Phia alongside brilliant, kind humans like Sophia and Phoebe makes me feel lucky every day (P.S. join our beta at phia.com!!)
On that ⬆️ note, strong women. My mom, who is just… <3.
Blind faith and bold moves. Alex, my wonderful roommate, who agreed to move in with me sight unseen. (She also encouraged this newsletter, so if you’re enjoying it, thank her. If not, uh... don’t say a word 🤠)
Hot girl walks & overpriced memories. 📸 Matt and I strutting through sunny Central Park and he insisted we stop every single time to pay that old man to take a polaroid of us. It’s so silly and small but I look at that picture everyday and smile.
Comfort. Jas. Jas’ hugs. 🫂 I love hugging people, but hers? They’re just better. Sorry to the rest of you.
Laughter. Erin, especially when she’s baking or cooking for me 👩🏼🍳 but mostly for being my best friend. She keeps me laughing through everything.
Family, by default. Erin’s sister Elise, who is now officially my sister, whether she likes it or not (…she loves it ⬇️)
Endless love. Nathan, for the weekend adventures, constant devotion, and accepting me exactly as I am every single day ❤️
Creative muses. The authentic badasses who encourage me to be unapologetically myself and make me feel cooler just by association—Briz, this is 100% you. 😎
Wisdom. Maggie always knows what to say, how to say it, and why I needed to hear it 👯♀️ Twenty years by your side, give us 40 more and we’ll look like this:
Confidence. Sam’s ability to walk into any room like she owns it is something I genuinely respect. I’d kill to go back to when we shared that tiny 17x12 dorm and just existed in our little bubble 🫧🕺🏼
Generosity. All of my friends, but especially Kunal, who goes out of his way to make everyone feel special. A rare kind of talent 💎
Ride-or-die compassion. Michaela, who would absolutely pack a bag and go to the moon for her friends if we needed her to. She’s the definition of selflessness, and honestly, we don’t deserve her. 🫶🏻
Timeless loyalty. Mikala, my childhood neighbor turned lifelong friend, has been a steady, supportive presence in my life 🍓 Even though she opts out of the social media circus (a choice I deeply admire), her support is anything but silent.
Newfound connections. 🦞 My Boston girls: Dana, Emily, Jenna, Lauren, Sara, Ella, Ashton, Colby—one weekend on The Cape was all it took. You’re stuck with me forever now.
Warmth. 🌞 Like Sophia D and Miraa’s energies—cheerful, smiley, and always my biggest hype women both in and out of the office.
So that’s my somewhat chaotic list of gratitude for this Thanksgiving 🦃
Sometimes life gets tough, and I don't always voice it, but if you're reading this, you’re making a bigger impact on me than you realize. You bring something positive to my world, and for that, I’m endlessly thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving , friends 💌
xoxo
Marg
